Ryan Johnston - Montana Director

Ryan Johnston has had the privilege of guiding anglers since 2003. Over the years, he has witnessed how fly fishing can foster meaningful relationships and create lasting bonds between people. Time spent together on the river, surrounded by beautiful landscapes, flowing water, and the excitement of pursuing fish, creates a unique opportunity for connection and shared memories.

Ryan’s father taught him that each day on the water is a gift from God and that we should be grateful for the freedom to pursue the passions we love. For Ryan, that passion has always been fly fishing and sharing it with others.

Through that passion, Ryan created Cast Hope—a way to share the joy, connection, and life lessons that fly fishing provides. His dream is to deepen relationships, teach the sport of fly fishing, and inspire the next generation to become stewards of the outdoors.

Brad Heine

Brad Heine has been a fly fishing guide since 2015, but his love for the sport started long before that. At just seven years old, Brad’s grandfather introduced him to fly fishing, sparking a passion that has followed him ever since.

A proud 4th-generation Montanan, Brad grew up as a farm kid in the Flathead Valley, where hard work, the outdoors, and a deep connection to the land were simply part of everyday life. Eventually, he came to a realization: guiding fishermen on the river was a whole lot better than stacking hay bales.

Today, Brad combines his Montana upbringing, years of experience on the water, and lifelong passion for fly fishing to give clients an authentic Montana fishing experience. For Brad, guiding is about more than catching fish—it’s about sharing the rivers, landscapes, stories, and traditions that make Montana special.
